A student-led conference (SLC) is a meeting where a student demonstrate a review of his or her work for parents and teachers.

In Al Fauzien, we transforming parent-teacher meeting in order to have our students leading the meeting that provide powerful opportunities for them to advocate for their own learning.
This academic year of 2021 - 2022, we chose 2nd term of the 1st semester to have this event.
Held for 3 consecutive day from 15 to 17 December 2021

In SLC, teachers become facilitators, students become leaders and parents become active listeners and questioners. students lead parents through a discussion of their work and established academic and social goals. The student directs the conversation focused on their work and classroom behavior.

We assigned 420 students from grade 1 to 6 leading their confrences for their parents and teachers. The previous conference conducted as a live event, but during the pandemic we have this event running virtually and set up 15 to 20 minutes.

Before the big day of the conference begin, students with the help and guide of their teachers at all the levels are set to choose their best or favorite subject they have learned. The teachers also help them prepare reflections, and practice presentation skills.
The students with teachers assisstance spend the weeks before conferences talking about how to present and lead the conversation with their parents. Helping the students feel secure and well prepared before the event.

The event went well and beyond expectation, comparing to the previous SLCs that taken live and enrolled for 3rd to 6th graders only.
We believe by keep doing this continuously, it will keep creating a safe environment for our student to learn and develop communication skills such as speaking, listening, and receiving constructive feedback and have them getting a head start on their foundation of confidence, self-worth, and other important performance character traits that will give them an edge to success in life

At the end as the name of the event is STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES, it is clear that the students are the leader and the star of the show. (Admin)
